Discover the magic of pottery in our 3-week beginner class for adults 15+. Immerse yourself in the art of creating beautiful pieces from clay, learning the essential techniques of throwing on the wheel, trimming, handle making, and glazing. Our instructor will be by your side, providing guidance and support as you explore your creative potential. Nestled in a peaceful, nature-themed studio, you'll find inspiration in your surroundings as you create unique pieces of pottery. With up to 10lbs of clay provided for each student and the opportunity to keep up to 2-3 finished pieces, you'll have plenty of material to work with as you learn and grow in this exciting medium. Relax in a comfortable and ambient environment, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and let your artistic talents flourish in this inspiring and fulfilling class. Preparing for class: - Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - Closed toe shoes recommended - Trim down nails as having long nails do interfere with the process and can make the process difficult - Bring your own apron - Class fees cover everything from instruction to clay, glaze, firing, and use of studio tools Week 1: Learn the basics through a guided wheel-throwing demo and make your first pieces. Week 2: Refine all pieces with trimming and learn to make and attach handles. If there is spare time by the end of class, our instructor will guide you on building small trinket dishes using slabs. Week 3: Finish by glazing all your work after a demonstration on glazing techniques. We highly encourage students to attend all scheduled classes, as make-up sessions do not offer the same level of guidance as regular sessions. If you do need to miss a class, we offer make-up sessions during our open studio hours for a $45 fee per session. To reserve a spot, please contact us at hello@clayat.com.
