Discover your love for clay in our 5-week beginner hand-building course for adults 15+. Perfect for those who enjoy working at a slower, more intentional pace, this course offers a thoughtful and creative alternative to wheel throwing. Guided by our experienced instructor, Vanessa, you’ll explore essential slab hand-building techniques to create mugs, bowls, and vases, as well as learn the coil method and other skills to enhance and add character to your work. Some sessions will also include free building time, giving you the opportunity to bring your own creative ideas to life. From rolling and cutting slabs to assembling, adding details, and finishing with glazes, you’ll gain a strong foundation for future projects. Nestled in our peaceful, nature-themed studio, you’ll find inspiration all around you as you shape your pieces. We provide plenty of clay for you to work with, so you can experiment freely and refine your skills. Relax in a welcoming environment surrounded by the beauty of nature, and let your creativity flourish! Preparing for class: - Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - Closed toe shoes recommended - Trim down nails as having long nails do interfere with the process and can make the process difficult - Bring your own apron - Class fees cover everything from instruction to clay, glaze, firing, and use of studio tools We highly encourage students to attend all scheduled classes, as make-up sessions do not offer the same level of guidance as regular sessions.
