Service Description

Bring the magic of fall into your home with a handmade ceramic piece! Join us for our 3-week Pumpkin Pottery Course and learn how to throw, trim, and carve a ceramic pumpkin luminary or pumpkin mug (ages 15+). No experience required! Throughout these sessions, our instructor provides personalized support as you learn to throw a classic vessel on the wheel and shape it into a pumpkin form. Depending on your choice, you will learn to pierce custom cutouts for a glowing jack-o'-lantern tea light vessel or attach hand-sculpted handles to build a festive mug. The course includes 3lbs of clay, giving you plenty of material to craft your piece. By the end of the 3 weeks, you will have created a unique piece perfect for cozy fall mornings or warm autumn evenings! Preparing for class: - Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - Closed toe shoes recommended - Trim down nails as having long nails do interfere with the process and can make the process difficult - Bring your own apron (Optional) - Class fees cover everything from instruction to clay, glaze, firing, and use of studio tools Week 1: Demonstration on throwing a pumpkin vessel on the wheel. You will focus on creating your main piece. Week 2: You will watch a trimming demo, trim your piece, and add custom details by either piercing jack-o'-lantern cutouts for light or attaching a mug handle. Week 3: In the final session, we will demonstrate glazing. You will spend the class glazing your work. We want every student to receive proper, uninterrupted instruction. We ask that students arrive on-time or 5-10 minutes before class. To avoid disruption, we cannot accommodate students who are more than 15 minutes late. We highly encourage students to attend all scheduled classes, as make-up sessions do not offer the same level of guidance as regular sessions. If you do need to miss a class, we offer make-up sessions during our open studio hours for a $50 fee per session. To reserve a spot, please contact us at hello@clayat.com.
