Service Description

There is nothing quite like rinsing fresh, seasonal fruit in a vessel you made yourself. Our 5-week Berry Bowl Course (ages 15+) invites you to craft the ultimate kitchen companions: a traditional colander bowl with a matching drainage plate, and a half-covered berry rinsing cup with a handle. Beginner friendly, no previous experience required. With personalized support from our expert instructor, you’ll master throwing, trimming, attaching handles, and piercing drainage holes. The course includes up to 7 lbs of clay, giving you plenty of freedom to play with shapes and styles. Preparing for class: - Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - Closed toe shoes recommended - Trim down nails as having long nails do interfere with the process and can make the process difficult - Bring your own apron (Optional) - Class fees cover everything from instruction to clay, glaze, firing, and use of studio tools Week 1: Wheel-throwing demo on the rinsing-style berry bowl, make your first piece on the wheel. Week 2: Throwing a traditional berry bowl with a matching drainage plate. Week 3: Trimming demo to refine shapes and foot rings on leather-hard pieces. Week 4: Pierce drainage holes and attach handles or accents. Week 5: Glaze demonstration for pierced pottery, then glaze all finished work. We want every student to receive proper, uninterrupted instruction. We ask that students arrive on-time or 5-10 minutes before class. To avoid disruption, we cannot accommodate students who are more than 15 minutes late. We highly encourage students to attend all scheduled classes, as make-up sessions do not offer the same level of guidance as regular sessions.
