Service Description

There is nothing quite like rinsing fresh, seasonal fruit in a vessel you made with your own hands. Our 3-week Berry Bowl Course invites you to create the ultimate kitchen companion: a beautiful, handmade berry bowl and an optional matching saucer (students 15+). Throughout these sessions, we will guide you through the process of throwing a classic colander bowl shape and its companion drainage plate. Our instructor provides personalized support as you learn to throw, trim, attach handles, and piercing drainage holes. The course includes 10lbs of clay, giving you plenty of room to play with different shapes and styles. By the end of the 3 weeks, you will have created 1-2 complete berry bowls that will have you looking for any excuse to head to the farmer's market and fill your new favorite ceramic pieces to the brim! Preparing for class: - Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty - Closed toe shoes recommended - Trim down nails as having long nails do interfere with the process and can make the process difficult - Bring your own apron (Optional) - Class fees cover everything from instruction to clay, glaze, firing, and use of studio tools Week 1: Demonstration on throwing a bowl on the wheel. You will have the choice to throw one berry bowl with a matching saucer or focus on creating two separate berry bowls. Week 2: You will trim your pieces, carefully pierce your drainage holes, and add custom attachments like handles to give your work a personal touch. Week 3: In the final session, we will demonstrate glazing. You will spend the class glazing all of your work. We want every student to receive proper, uninterrupted instruction. We ask that students arrive on-time or 5-10 minutes before class. To avoid disruption, we cannot accommodate students who are more than 15 minutes late. We highly encourage students to attend all scheduled classes, as make-up sessions do not offer the same level of guidance as regular sessions.
